Envirokonsult, Your Wastewater Engineering Solutions Partner, joined 15,000 volunteers from public and private sectors last January 26 in cleaning the Baseco Beach in Manila to mark the first anniversary of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project.
President and CEO of Envirokonsult Anthony V. Gedang led the company’s participation in the clean-up activity. Envirokonsult was able to retrieve six sacks of garbage along the shoreline of Baseco Beach.
The Baseco Beach is among the DENR’s three priority areas in Manila to bring down the coliform level along with the Manila Baywalk and Estero Antonio de Abad.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, DENR Manila Bay Coordinating Office Director Jake Meimban said that the coliform level in Baseco Beach has gone down from 1 million most probable number per 100 milliliters (MPN/100 ml) to 53,000 MPN/100 ml today but still far from the safe level of 100 MPN/100 ml.
Since the launch of the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project in 2018, Envirokonsult has already pledged its full support to lower down the coliform level in Manila Bay, including its tributaries, by providing wastewater engineering solutions such as On-Site Sewage Treatment Plant and Containerized Wastewater Treatment Systems.
In March 2019, Envirokonsult with the DENR and Republic Defenders turned over the communal septic tank it upgraded for the informal settlers along Estero Padua in Barangay 718 Malate, Manila.
